About the Position

As we are building our core backend services, we are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to take on the challenge of solving complex technical problems to deliver robust, performant, scalable, and secure web services. As an early member of this team, you will co-create all the infrastructure and processes with the team. Our core product experiences are written in C# and the latest .NET Core stack. You should also be comfortable evaluating and exploring new technologies and runtimes.

What are we looking for?

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building web-based applications, REST APIs using .NET Core, C# stack, with a proven ability to take projects from concepts to production.
• Experience with writing code for large, high (medium) volume APIs.
• Experience with relational and non-relational database development from schema design to writing complex, optimized queries.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with front-end development (preferably React) is a solid plus.
• Understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and microservices. A bias toward rapid experimentation and iteration, with an ability to balance speed with quality.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in an asynchronous environment.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cody, etc).
• Prior experience working in startups or on greenfield product teams.
• Interest in PropTech, FinTech, or consumer real estate.

Your First Year at Belong

As you join, you will work closely with our backend engineers to understand the existing product and the API services. You will dive deep into the architecture, database design, and deployment systems. You will start to get familiar with the code base by building smaller features, participating in code reviews, and involving in design discussions with other backend and frontend engineers.

As you grow, you will constantly work with Product & Design to understand the requirements and brainstorm on potential solutions with frontend engineers. You will be responsible for scoping, estimation, and delivery of the features as expected. Data is essential at Belong. You will start working with the data team to understand the data and how you can continually update the data set with the data from your new features.

As you establish, your responsibilities will be extended to provide required training for other teams on the features and detailed documentation. You will work with other teams to understand their pain points and propose solutions to Product & Design. By the end of your first year, you will have good ownership of one of the core services. You will be responsible for the stability, performance, and extension of the service with new capabilities by working with a product lead and other lead engineers.

Must Haves

• 5+ years of experience building web-based applications, REST APIs using .NET Core, C# stack.
• Understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and microservices.
• Strong Database Design & SQL.
• Good communication skills in English.
